A WhatsApp Sender is the phone number or business account that your AI assistant uses to send and receive WhatsApp messages. Before your assistant can communicate via WhatsApp, you need to set up at least one sender. This guide explains the types of senders available and how to configure them.
Types of WhatsApp Senders
WhatsApp Business API (Recommended)
The official WhatsApp Business API allows high-volume messaging, message templates, and full integration with Live Bots 365. This is the recommended option for businesses that want to use WhatsApp at scale. Requires a Facebook Business Manager account and Meta verification.
WhatsApp Business App (Limited)
The standard WhatsApp Business App can be connected for lower-volume use cases. This option has limitations on message volume and does not support all automation features. Best for small businesses just getting started with WhatsApp.
Setting Up a WhatsApp Business API Sender
Create a Facebook Business Manager Account
Go to business.facebook.com and create or log into your Business Manager account. This is required to access the WhatsApp Business API.
Add a Phone Number
In Business Manager, go to WhatsApp Accounts and add the phone number you want to use. This number must not already be registered with WhatsApp.
Complete Meta Verification
Verify your business with Meta. This involves providing business documentation and typically takes 1–3 business days.
Connect to Live Bots 365
In the Live Bots 365 dashboard, go to Integrations > WhatsApp and click Connect. Follow the OAuth flow to link your WhatsApp Business account.
Assign to an Assistant
Once connected, assign the WhatsApp sender to an AI assistant. The assistant will now handle incoming WhatsApp messages on that number.
